Did pregnancy stretch out your tummy and breasts, making them saggy. Do you long for the “wash board” abs and perky breasts of yesteryear? Then the “Mommy Makeover” is for you.
This procedure combines the tummy tuck (abdominoplasty) with the mastopexy (breast lift) and frequently, breast augmentation (see each for more details). The advantages of doing both together are significant saving of time and money. You recover from both procedures at the same time… half the time you’d spend recovering from each procedure done separately. You also save thousands of dollars because it is a more efficient use of the surgeon’s time because the preparation for each surgery takes a long time. There are also advantages of one anesthesia vs. two.
The disadvantage of the “Mommy Makeover” is the length of the procedure, which could easily be 6-8 hours. I use a surgical assistant for this lengthy procedure, trimming off a few hours, making the surgery much safer.
I perform the “Mommy Makeover” in my AAAASF accredited office operating room with general anesthesia by a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist.
Recovery is a bit longer than either procedure alone. Drains are needed in the abdomen and sometime the breasts for a couple weeks. Light regular activity starts after 1-2 weeks. Lower body workouts start 3 weeks post op. upper body workouts start in 4-6 weeks.
The ideal candidates for the “Mommy Makeover” are healthy women who are done having babies, don’t smoke and are not obese. The result is like stepping into a time machine and stepping out with the body you had before your first pregnancy.
